| Record Description | A worked flint core, of blue/grey and white colour,showing evidence (image 570)of where both blades and flakes have been detached from a single platform, probably in the Mesolithic or Early Neolithic period. The raw flint material is of tabular (rather than nodular) flint and may originate from the Yorkshire Wolds. |

| Additional Notes | Found between the riverbank and the eroded terminal face of the earthworks which run down to the old crossing of the river Swale between Ellerton and Marrick, on the Ellerton side of the river. It cannot be directly associated with the earthworks (image 573), however, and as the core is fresh in appearance, with no signs of battering, it is likely to have been washed out of the riverbank section. |
